Re: checking the river for safety 12/2/2007 10:03:10 PM   (Total replies: 1)
personally i like the check here. seen a lot of people play big hands passively like that. Actually i did it just last night when i flopped a boat and another guy was betting with two pair. if you bet hes going to raise, if you check you at least get away from the hand without losing another 3-4 bucks. Even if your ahead in the hand i think the check is the right play when your just not sure.

you have to be willing to gamble at some point if you want to win a tournament. your call here was a good decision which just sometimes backfires. And your not eliminated so you still have a chance to get back to where you were.

Its still early in the tourny so I dont have much info to go on. Really hard possition my gut is telling me to fold but I've seen some pretty outrageous bluffs early in these 180 man tournies.

AKs early 12/7/2007 12:45:09 AM   (Total replies: 3)
I'm talking first 2 levels where blinds are 10/20 and 15/30. On the button with AKs and theres already 4 limpers. So clearly I need to raise enough for those chumps to fold to narrow it down to 2 people, hopefully one. So I raise it up to 160. Pretty good raise with the bb being 20. Small blind calls...big blind calls...and all 4 limpers call!. I've had this happen with a few good starting hands early on that lose a ton of value with that many people willing to stay in. Clearly I should ...

first hand id have to think your beat the way you played it. not a lot of info on the strength of villians hand.

that second hand tho is a thing of beauty, looks like something out of my HH's lol well done if he folds. And im pretty sure he did unless hes holding the nut flush.

Most of the time after making a fold like that, your going to be sitting back in your chair when the flop comes down saying "wow im sure glad i folded there". Times like this tho you want to chew your own arm off for folding it.
