went from being a microstakes grinder to a telecommuting software developer...
honestly not much of a lifestyle change. Money's about the same just without the swings... still using my brain for a living... still setting my own hours with goals to meet...just more typing than clicking is pretty much the difference |

I thought about this reply for 2 months before replying... (joking). - In thruth, I barely ever skim the forum these days, as evidenced by the piles of spam that are here when I come through.
I'm at Carbon Poker for online poker, though rarely. After losing half our business revenue on April 15th, I've mainly been furiously working to build the other sites that are still rocking along...
Sadly, the "half" that we lost was pretty much 100% of the revenue that we generated from this site. (Rakeback business built primarily at Full Tilt / AP / UB, for the past 7 years).
Anyway, whereas in the past, lack of updates to this site were due to having our thumbs in too many other pies, now we can add on the fact that the US DOJ pretty well killed the revenue this site had created, thus making it less relevant compared to other sites that we are working on.
Makes me want to puke. |

| Since Full Tilt and Stars pulled out I really haven't been on my personal computer at all since April. Kind of funny. Sorry to hear you've been hit hard by this Coach. Hopefully things will get back to normal once all this stuff is sorted out. Of course I'm not even up to date on where things stand. |

Well.........
I pretty much came to the realization (that everyone else here had) that as long as I played the style I play, I'd never be a winning player. That plus getting a pretty steady gf pretty much stopped any poker playing.
Then the whole start/tilt thing happened. Got my money back from Stars and funny enough my fpps were worth considerably more than my balance. Still got a little on tilt which I'm pretty sure I'll never see. Crooks.
I am still very active on 2p2, though - almost 30,000 posts. So, I do keep up with the state of poker.
I'm sure if we ever get it back, I'll play again. Not sure if I'll make any effort to adjust or not. It was always like a video game for me anyways. Even though I thought I was trying to beat it, I was really more interested in just seeing tons of cards and punching tons of buttons. Fortunately it never was a debilitating addiction moneywise. Timewise, yes.
I hope everyone is well and I think it would be nice if all the old regs gave an update.

I got my money off stars, but I had significantly more on FTP.
Still waiting on that. I was one of those in the boat that stupidly had ~80% of their net worth online.
Fortunately for me, I'm going into my senior year of college and still a "Full time student" - thank you US government for one thing: student loans.
So, I wasn't TRULY affected by it, but it has cut down on the amount of fun I'm allowed to have.
I want to get involved in the smaller poker sites like Merge, Bodog, Minted, Everleaf, but I don't have any money to deposit. I've thought about asking for a stake here or there, but I can't dedicate the time.
I took the GRE a couple weeks ago, going to apply to PhD programs in Clinical Psychology this fall, gotta start thinking about a career obviously and I think that's what I want to do. It's a long way down the road, but it's a guaranteed job at the end of the tunnel (making pretty good money).
So, a few years down the road if online poker comes back I will definitely be playing, I just hope that I haven't lost or forgotten all the skills I once had.
I played a little bit live over the summer, was +$700 or so. At one point I was +3kish and then went on an awful downer and decided my profits would go better off paying rent than being gambled away. So, until my student loans come I've got no money, and even once they do come I'm not tryin to gamble with money I need to live with.
Basically, poker is done until I can get disposable income (or Macio can loan me $10 on a poker site and let me build it up again   . I tried playing a few freerolls but I just fucking hate them with a passion - I wouldn't mind playing 5NL here and there trying to make $100/month tho. I'll play the lowest stakes there are just for the thrill of beating other players, but it needs to have even the smallest monetary value. Freerolls I can't stand lol
That's all from here. I'm all grown up, 21 years old, senior in college, applying to grad schools, broke because of the federal government. damn poker really went full circle. |

| im focusing on college right now, maybe when i have saved enough money ill try to be a part-time live player. i definitely know that i have great capability to rise back to the high stakes again one day, but its just not a high priority right now. |

Hey guys,
If anyone is interested, Bodog is letting us run a $25 free bankroll for USA residents again. Might be your shot at 5NL PsYc0. ;]
If you already have a Bodog account, you're out of luck. Granted, no rules against your significant other, or dad or someone else getting a roll.
Let me know if you're interested. We're still employed, but sadly, the profitability for this site was almost 100% rakeback from FTP, AP/UB, and that went kaput. Our bills are being paid by free money players on the nodepositbonus.com site that we bought back in 2007.
Man, really glad we picked that site up. I'd be teaching high school history again if not. -- Not that it's a bad thing, but I could make more by jumping out my office window, surviving and collecting disability. |

I am up for it. We have a dozen poker places close by between the 8 Los Angeles clubs and the injun casinos (cough, cough, smoking there!)
Anyway, I miss the online games though. |

Fred, Psyco, Eo: Forgot to mention in my post that you just need to email me. Happy to give you a link and instructions: coach@poker-strategy.org
Demonbird has already got his $25.
Shoot me an email. Happy to set you up with the free $25 bankroll and skip the majority of the application process.
We have a bankroll deal with Carbon Poker too, for the record. |

Interesting post here. I just hoped that things should be well in the future, as well as making things sure in the long run.

I am actually working, but I find time to play at least once or twice a week. I don't want to feel being left out.

Love it |
