remember the old days? Posted: 03-17-2008 11:05 AM |
I remember back starting out here just about all of us were playing micro stakes on Absolute and were also in that $5K at 365 on weekends. Since that time I have cashed out all of my winnings and been playing mostly live when I can.
I still had some fpp's from stars so I decided to use them on the $500/10fpp turbo touries they run to practice my tournament skills. Well, I was able to scratch out a few cents with them and now have been playing their micro NL again and have been able to run it up from $1 to $16 after a few hours of play. Who knows, I might be able to cash out a nice 5 figure sum once again. |

my old days? started out in 2005 playing live at riverrock casino at their $2/$4 limit games.
break even player mostly... I was broke then, every meal was mac&cheese or instant noodles, and lived in my mom's basement...
2006, stopped playing live. played online, started becoming a winning player on SNGs. still broke, still lived in my mom's basement, still ate mac & cheese and instant noodles every morning day and night
2007, played ring games mostly, 4 multitabling. constant small profits each month, but still broke, still lived in my mom's basement, still ate mac & cheese morn day & night
2008, still playing ring games, thinking of 6 tabling soon. still broke, still living in my mom's basement, still eating mac & cheese. |

Fred - That would be awesome to see you on the tables. I would say “again”, but I've never played with you before so it doesn't really fit.
Snowman - If you're only squeeking out a small profit on 4 tables, then you need to reduce your tables, not increase them.
The idea is the more tables you play at the time, the more value you loose because you're absorbing less information. So each table's hourly rate may be down a bit. At the same time, since your volume is up, it should provide a slightly higher OVERALL hourly rate which compensates for the loss of information between each individual table.
Get back to the basics my man. Try out two tables and see how it goes from there. Once you're crushing two tables, add the third, etc etc etc. |

I loved winning my first ever PSORG Freeroll on AP too . Think it went to heads up against you fparker right? I also loved whoring the penny stakes on AP for the rakeback, until they had to go and screw that up too. |

Fred - bring back the Bet365 freeroll ... if you couldn't make money in that the first few months there was something wrong!
Brad - I'm pretty sure I remember when Casie first started playing. Quite a ride from there to losing $2800 in a day. :-)
I still remember my first time going on tilt at VC Poker, going up to 25c/50c limit and seeing my first $5 pot. Unsurprisingly I didn't win it ... |

| 365 won't let us USA slobs play any more. the $500 freeroll on Stars is a far cry from the $5K that I built my bankroll on. I think that I came in 2nd and then Roger won it a few weeks later. I took my $512 and played PL 5CS and raised my stakes quite a bit. Right before they cut everyone off, I moved my money to UB and AP and more than doubled it in 2 hours playing 5/10. I then took it all out right before neteller went mustang. |

And Dan was/is a pest. He is a pest that can bring in $85,000 a week in online tournament winnings, but a pest no less. |

i loved that 5k tournament, final tabled my first time playing it for 9th and then ran that money up playing the ridiculously soft cash games on the prima network. poker was a lot better then, could pretty much make 2k-3k a month without even thinking about it playing low limits, it was a nice income.
the game is still beatable, but it is relatively a lot more difficult now compared to back then. |

Hi Casie! Yes, I miss the good old days too. Heck, I miss the PSORG chat room. I'm not even sure if it's still registered. It sort of died after you and Brad stopped playing poker...
We're hoping that a site update in the near future will revive things around here. It's just taking us like.... 1 year + to finally get it going. So many other projects stealing our time. |

What a thread to dig up Casie! I haven't seen any of those guys around in ages. I wonder how everyone is doing.
I can't wait for the forum upgrade. I would love to see things booming around here. They seem to have died down.
I'm not going anywhere though. Some day this forum will be booming. I'm keeping the faith. |

Nancy and I are running 2 businesses, one doing software development/business consulting and one doing promotional products, embroidery, screen printing, etc. Our daughter graduated from Law School and is buying a house right down the street from a poker club. I think I will be starting back up again!

We met Roger a couple of times and went to The Bike and Commerce on his two trips that we hooked up.
Otherwise I have spoken on the phone with Keith and Brad in the past.
I do still think about the days at Bet365 and the Sat 5K and their wild PL 5 Card Stud games. I enjoyed writing my beginners strategy guide and it was great to have Lou Krieger comment on my 5CS strategy. |

From the depths of time and space the Walker of the Abyss once more returns to the realms of the immortals of PSORG.
Yes i miss the old days of friends sitting at a stud or 3/6 holdem table and making like the scene of rounders being the pros and cleaning the weekend warriors stacks.
ahhhhhhhhhh good times good times
and if you really want to get the feel for them go searching for the reports of the original PSORG Tourneys that that are still lurking around in the forums......good humer and fun was had by all.
as to me well started a business .......lost a business ...... rebuilding again. kind of like poker you your bankroll sometimes lose most of it and just turn the page and carry on

HOLY COW!
What's up Darque
Leslie and I were just talking about old members the other day and thought about you. How are things going?
The last 2 years were a crappy time to start a business I think, with the economy going all sour. Unless you were starting a business in foreclosure consulting, debt consulting, etc. |

| yeah when the media got all hyped up telling everyone to panic and not spend any money that was the end for me with my sales company. But such is life. I still have a great son that is growing up into a bright young man, and that puts everything else in the right perspective. |

Man, some of you guys are coming out of the wood work for this thread.
MACIO!!!!!!!!!! What's up man? Now there's a guy I miss. Actually I miss everyone of the guys I recongnize in here. Such is life though. As for me, I'm still grinding away. I don't think I'll ever go more than two days without playing poker. Still going strong after 5 years. I'm really looking forward to 2010. I'll be surprised if I don't have my best year yet. |
