Stupid NBA crap Posted: 05-15-2007 11:09 PM |
The suspension of Diaw and Stoudemire for getting off the bench yesterday is so completely ridiculous!
Give me a freaking break! A Spurs player does something wrong and the Suns lose TWO players? On what planet does THAT make sense? Why are the Suns paying for what a Spurs guy did? Heck, teams could use this as STRATEGY. I'm not saying that Horry used it as starategy, I'm saying others may learn from this horrible example and use it in the future. I don't think all this is the best way to prove that Stoudemire was wrong for calling them dirty LOL. After he called them dirty everyone's attention was on them. Then we see knees in the groin and body checking. Way to show e1 he was wrong.
I used to really like the Spurs. Now I can't, because I can't respect them. And I can't respect the NBA for this decision. Not when they haven't been fair about it. I don't see the Spurs guys getting suspended for leaving the bench. I'm not much into conspiracy theories... but this makes you say hmmmmmm |

Not to sound condescending or anything, but I'm surprised that anyone who watches a lot of NBA basketball can say "I'm not much into conspiracy theories"
The NBA is not a legitimate competitive entity. The officiating alone should indicate that certain outcomes are predetermined. Suspensions and lotteries and cap waivers and fines are just the (completely unnecessary) supporting evidence.
Which sucks, because I really like basketball. It sure would be nice if the premier pro league in the world weren't, ya know, fixed. |

I agree the NBA is just for entertainment, it's no longer a sport...
College is where it's at. Maybe if they start showing international games in the states I could get into bastketball again. |

I'll agree with the NBA being bad basketball. It's the one sport that is truly dominated consistently by completely freak athletes (LeBron James... he looks like he's 32, he's 22). Football has freak athletes, but one player can't completely control the outcome of a game, there are 10 other players on the field. Barry Bonds can't win games by himself (don't even get me started on how much I hate BB). hell, Pele, the best soccer player of all time couldn't even win a game by himself. Disclaimer: Tiger Woods doesn't count because golf is an individual sport, plus, it's a sport where crazy hard work can win you tourneys.
But still, it is extremely satisfying to see a team like the Spurs win championships... which they will. They are truly a team. Michael Jordan was the best player ever, but he always had a supporting cast that could hit shots (John Paxson, Steve Kerr) and play defense (Scotty Pippen). So even freak athletes are no match for a real team.
But still, college basketball is the way to go. Players are playing for the game, for each other. Coaches actually have a huge influence (Coach K, Billy Donovan, Bobby Knight) and the players are not all freaks. I hate the Florida Gators, but they are an awesome example of college basketball being the premiere example of quality b-ball |

That ruling was horrible. I feel strongly that the rule should stay any player leaving the bench and being involved in a fight should be punished. Not ones who leave the bench and then quickly return realizing they need to stay out of it. They should also be allowed to help cool the situation. If a player leaves the bench to get his teammate away from an altercation, then that shouldn't be punished. Seriously, they're all adults and if they act in a way that's not fueling the fire, then there should be no reprocussions. |

I think they should have made an exemption and suspended Stoudamire for the first half of the next gmae, and kicked Horry for a complete game. A very touchy rule on a very touchy circumstance their decision just seems flat out wrong. Either way I think the NBA is a joke now, so just give Lebron his championship and sell more jerseys... (I so wish they'd get back to the 80s early 90s so I could love it to death again!!).
I'd even like to have seen Horry kicked out for more than one game... even the remainder of the series, as the game was obviously over and there was a high probability he was just trying to get some Suns suspended. |
