tournament or cash game? full ring or shorthanded? tight or loose table? passive or aggressive table? its hard to talk about 1 hand in isolation, let alone 2 cards
I certainly think you could do a lot worse than to raise with it |

why you playing shortstack money?
ure giving up an edge I think by not playing with a full to 4/5full stack
even if i lose a raise and c-bet i tend to top up, you never know when that next big hand will pop up
them calling on the flop would scare me, im not saying I would check the turn when the flush card hits, but im not sure I can call that raise. what were you thinking for the river? if you had a read and just decided to pay them off, fair enough

I was doing some maths (and daydreaming) while I was at work, but was lacking a peice of the puzzle
I thought: if I lose my job tomorrow and I start playing poker full time, what stakes would I have to play to make a living? I decided I would like $25 an hour on average from playing profit alone (which would be the gross equivalent of $35 an hour as all gambling earnings here in the uk are tax free).
I would say I am comfortable playing 4 or 5 tables, maybe 6. But this means I ... |

not been playing much poker recently, other things and such going on
when i have been playing ive been playing 10+1 nl holdem sngs, not generally my best format, but in the right circumstance, which is actually against the better opponents, it could be my 'A' game. because of the recent tightness of ring games ive been able to exploit my semi loose aggressive style, with people playing cash like tournament chips I can take down pot after pot and make the right reads in big pots. these ... |

i see your thinking jase, but i dont think the term 'fold equity' applies here
you cant always make a pot bet on the turn, because there is a good chance that only a VERY strong hand will play with you (some strong hands you beat though)
sometimes its good to look weak. but I really dont think this board is scary on the turn at all
against their range of hands i dont think it was a bad bet at all

fold equity is when you might get a better hand to fold
I dont see any better hand folding here, so essentially I want call or even raise equity (i just invented that i think) from worse hands, the equity being the difference between the price they need to call and the price they will call
i agree id probably make the same play as you. but I dont mind this play on the turn, just not for the reason macio said. Especially against some arrogant fool talking it up in the chatbox, he ... |

I cant say I ever like to min raise in ring games, but it did the trick
would you play aa, kk, qq the way you said (the same way)?
I often think my table image is ruined after a barrage of raises, but when I decide to look someone up they tend to have what they represented. So unless I have a read that they would make a play, I try to take the emotional side of things out of it. |

ahh another qq thread, I remembered why I stayed away now
im not raising preflop to get people to fold, im trying to get value from my hand, ill also raise with a plethora of other hands so why not qq
when the pot gets bigger I think peoples hands become more easy to read, preflop and on the flop, youre getting more information as well as the value for your hand
qq isnt the nuts, you are going to lose with it, as you will all poker hands, but the idea is that you make ... |

i think you check the k high flush and win with k high against a lower flush draw, seems like they would keep you honest at a table like this with any pair (which is hard to put them on in the kill pot), so probably wise to check, in the heat of the moment id probably bet though. I like the play either way. actually i change my read, as I doubt they have a q high flush draw or ten high flush draw without a pair in a kill pot, which ... |

learn to control pot size
you can do this by raising smaller amounts preflop, say 3.5bb; on the flop, lets say 2/3 pot, and you can do the same on the turn, to keep the pot small, or if you want to play a big pot then you can really hammer them with a pot bet
to call a bet on the flop and the turn people generally need a very big draw or hand, most of the time they will peel fo the turn with top pair, but if you act strong on the turn they will likely muck and look for a better ... |
